Securing Wombex's residual deposits

Half a million dollars remains deposited in obsolete Wombex and Wombat contracts. It has generated no yield for two years, while being exposed to new threats.

We are moving these residual deposits into safer custody. This is Wombex’s last chapter, and an opening to the next.

Why we are moving

The Wombex front end was retired in 2024 under the planned wind-down schedule. Deposits remained withdrawable directly from the smart contracts, either programmatically or through block explorers.

That was workable while the surrounding infrastructure remained familiar and maintained. It is no longer the right long-term arrangement.

The Wombat and Wombex stack is obsolete. The contracts are immutable, and the only eyes left on the code are those of threat actors, better equipped than ever. No yield compensates depositors anymore for accepting that growing operational risk.

Leaving assets in the legacy contracts prolongs their exposure, with zero upside for liquidity providers.

This migration closes Wombex down safely and permanently.

Migration steps

Deposits are retrieved on BNB Chain and Arbitrum, converted into stablecoins, and consolidated into a safer haven: the Wombex Migrator multisig.

The migration has four steps:

  1. Withdrawal A single transaction batch withdraws every residual position from the legacy contracts into a 2-of-3 Wombex Migrator multisig.

  2. Snapshot At the last conversion block, the on-chain state serves as the record of eligible wallets and balances across all pools. No action is required: if you held a Wombex position, your share is recorded automatically.

  3. Conversion The recovered assets are converted into stablecoins and consolidated on a single chain (BNB Chain at the time of migration). This is not executed all at once: staked assets such as ankrBNB are redeemed through their native protocols rather than sold immediately. This can take up to fifteen days and reduces open-market selling.

  4. Settlement Once conversion is complete, each eligible address can view its allocation in the BTR interface, then either claim it or leave it deposited to earn yield.

How your share is calculated

Your allocation is a fixed percentage of the recovered assets, determined from on-chain balances at the last conversion block (the snapshot). It is not a fixed dollar amount.

Most residual assets are BNB-denominated, so the final value may change before conversion. We will not hedge this exposure or quote an amount in advance.

Some positions may settle below face value because several Wombat pools were previously drained and exit slippage affects recovered value. These losses predate the migration.

Once converted to stablecoins, the Wombex Migrator multisig position is delta-neutral and earns auto-compounding yield.

The migration is carried at zero cost to liquidity providers. Nothing is deducted from your share, which is calculated from the on-chain snapshot and settled according to the recovered value.

We reconstructed the beneficiary list directly from chain data, based on actual balances at the snapshot block: 432 addresses, down to the wei.

How to claim

When the migration interface goes live on BTR:

  • Connect the wallet that held the Wombex position.
  • View the allocation associated with that wallet.
  • Choose to withdraw your share or leave it deposited to earn yield.

Sign the request prompted by the interface to prove ownership.

If an address is not in the allocation list, it held no eligible position at the snapshot block and has no claimable allocation on BTR.

No manual contract interaction is required.

Protect yourself

We will never:

  • Send claim links or related information by DM
  • Ask for a seed phrase or private key
  • Ask you to send assets or sign an approval to unlock your claim

Treat anyone who does as a scammer. Official updates are posted only on this blog and our official channels.

What about the yield

BTR carries forward Wombex’s vision of more efficient markets: an auto-compounding AMM that unifies liquidity and automatically concentrates it where it is most effective.

Liquidity providers earn competitive yield from trading fees, without relying on inflationary emissions.

BTR maintains deposit caps for whitelisted providers. Former Wombex depositors receive early access through the Wombex Migrator.

As a former Wombex LP, you can leave your allocation deposited to earn yield, or claim it now and join a dedicated allocation queue.
